Ghost Dances | Rambert | Choreographed by Christopher Bruce | Costumes by Belinda Scarlett | Lighting by Nick Chelton

There’s a reason Christopher Bruce’s Ghost Dances remains so popular, even 35 years after its creation. A heartfelt tribute to the victims of political oppression in South America (the work was originally inspired by the horrors of the Pinochet regime in Chile), it has everything going for it. Great music (South American folk arranged by Nicholas Mojsiejenko), fantastic costumes by Belinda Scarlett (the three ghost dancers are wonderfully ghoulish in their skull masks) and choreography that is not only well crafted, but exciting in its forward momentum.
